Stolen Horse--Man is BACK in jail!

You guys have convinced me, beyond all doubt.

No way- no how- at no time- will I ever ever ever lease or lease out a horse.

There are circumstances where it is necessary to lease one out... but mostly... I agree with you.

I leased a horse from someone to show when I was a kid, well, ok, my parents did. All went well and no one was the worse for it. The horse got attention and exercise that the owner wasn't in a position to give him, I had a good horse to show and just generally ride and enjoy. It was a very nominal lease fee, and the owner lived nearby so was very aware. It was a good thing for all so don't dismiss all possibilities!

I hope there's news soon just like everyone else, but I'm not wanting to add to the frustration. (not knowing if that's even possible by now really) It's so hard to say from such a long distance what is causing this latest delay. We tend to look at the worst case about judges and lawyers and such, perhaps with good reason, but they are just as human as the rest of us (contrary to popular opinion). Deep breaths and calmness is all there is for us, Ropo has done so much to keep on top of things, I have faith she's going to do what's right for her in this situation.

If this was a car...no questions asked. you send a repo man out and they snatch the car. You have the title and paperwork. If it goes to court,a big if, it is for the cost of the repo. Yet, with Max, this has taken years. The uncle is in possession of stolen property, he should be charged with a felony.

Note: It is a felony in Oklahoma to sell an item you do not own: i.e. a TV from Rentacenter. You lease a TV from Rentacenter and must return it when the lease expires or when you fail to make a lease payment. At times, if the lease states, you may gain ownership at the end of the lease. But Max was only leased, not sold. When the nephew sold M<ax, he committed a crime. The Uncle accepted stolen property, a felony. Hopefully this will be over soon!

OK...I've tried calling all day today and can't get an answer. I just get a busy signal. The place is NOT that busy. They were closed yesterday for Memorial Day...the "answering machine" is the busy signal. There is no other messaging system, just the busy signal. The lunch hour begins at 12PM and ends at 1PM. What on earth?!

Finally got through and found out that she has yet to go out again. She's "making time for it as well as trying to get a veterinarian out there." Don't know why about the vet, unless she is trying to confirm the markings since she's not very "horsey".

It's bad to have to wait, but I think a vet would be better at identifying a horse than a person that's never been around a horse. Plus, a vet can verify current condition.

not to mention a vet is more reliable in the eyes of the court when saying "same horse" than a judge who doesn't deal in horses often at all. The vet can also, "clear it for transport" if need be. I'm rather thankful shed be bringing a vet - making sure you get your Max and that hes healthy.
