but, someone has dropped the ball here. Im not saying we all call or write but RoPo has rights. Isn't there somewhere or someone she can go to that would be above the judge... to get things going. She can call nicely and ask to speak with the judge and voice her concerns in a polite way, right?
eta: and the exact moment you have that horse back, you need to file a civil suit against both perps to collect the leasing fee for each month you were without payment + court costs + time off work + pain and aggravation! You definitely deserve it. There no judge in this country that would not at least award you court cost, time off work and leasing fee... that part is a no brainer!
My biggest concern, and something that should be brought to the judge in case she hasn't considered it:
If this man is certain he's going to be giving Max back, isn't it possible he'll stop caring for him in a humane way? Is it possible he'll stop putting up feed and let him get ill?
Every day that goes by this guy is going to be less and less ethical, and the judge needs to be mindful that he'll resent the horse for his troubles.
I think of it every day. The thought of "what if he's just letting Max die just to get back at me" wakes me up at night. I haven't had a decent sleep in months.
I wish I could describe what goes through my mind all this time, but I can't. Her boss is the district judge or some sort, I'm wondering if I can call and see if he could hurry it up?
Perhaps it's time to contact the local TV stations again...like Scott Hines with "In Your Corner" on Channel 4.
Channel 5 has someone too.
A condensed timeline of the events since the guy was convicted might be incentive enough.
The delays in getting Max back to his rightful owner and the concerns about his well-being should tug at heartstrings.
A. call the DA and ask him to PLEASE on your behalf speak to the Judge about this going on so long.
B. Write a registered letter to the judge that HAS to be signed for, and list the concern you have about Max not getting appropriate care and possible mistreatment.
I am sooo sorry, you know if any of us could "fix" this for you and Max, we would have!
