Probation ordered for obstruction
By BOB GIBBINS
Press Staff Writer

TAHLEQUAH — A Cherokee County man was placed on probation Monday after pleading no contest to obstructing an officer. Bobby Trammel was scheduled to appear in court on a count of knowingly concealing stolen property, stemming from his alleged concealment of a horse embezzled from Mikeala Rodriguez last year.

Michael D. Ryals, who is charged with embezzling the horse, has an Aug. 12 court appearance in that case.

Ryals has waived a preliminary hearing and is on a 1:30 p.m. docket that day. His case was set last week, but attorney James Cosby was unavailable.

Ryals allegedly sold the horse to Leonard Trammel, Bobby’s father.

Leonard gave the horse to Bobby’s son, and Bobby refused to comply with a court order to relinquish possession of the horse.

The horse was seized earlier this month when sheriff’s deputies served a search warrant on the property and arrested Bobby. The horse has been returned to Rodriguez.

Court records show Bobby pleaded no contest to the reduced charge of obstructing an officer and was placed on a deferred 90-day judgment. He was also ordered to pay a $200 fine and court costs.

Trammel appeared before Special District Judge Sandy Crosslin to enter the plea.

So glad that some justice has FINALLY been served! I do feel bad for the kid in all of this... how horrible that the "adults" had to behave like this and involve a kid.

I just hope the son learned his lesson...I have a feeling this isn't the end of it.

On the brighter side of things, I did get a video of me riding Max!

It's not great quality, but you can see his gaits and such. His head needs to be lower and that's partially my fault for keeping pressure on his mouth.

Feel free to comment on things you can see that I can improve on, but please, keep it "dumbed down".

Very nice RoPo -

You and Max look like you move so nice together. Thank you for sharing the video and keeping all of us updated.

Were those birds you could hear on the video or just video noise? I was thinking, holly cow they have noisy birds and lots of them.

No new thread, I like being able to come here and have it all in one place. I'm afraid I'd miss it if you started a new one then I'd be lost and wondering. I'm so glad to see that he's doing so well. I know nothing about showing, so will leave that to the experts, but GOOD LUCK!

Trust him! Let your reins loosen and trust him......

He has a nice jog and can do well if he is shown on a loose rein. I did the same thing with my mare, kept more pressure in her mouth than I should have, I finally one day loosened my reins and low and behold her head dropped and she actually slowed down a little more.

See, we'd never been in that pasture before...I was afraid he was gonna trot right into the mud-pit next to the road. It also seems that when I give him more rein, he thinks "all right!!!!" and starts "slogging" with a stiffer trot that jars the heck out of me. But, I'm debating longing him before saddling him so he'll get all the goofies out of himself.

If you longe him with the saddle on, he gets an attitude when you're in the saddle. No idea why. I'll probably longe him 30 minutes before hopping on him.

Thanks for all the compliments and criticisms!
