Stolen Horse--Man is BACK in jail!

We are doing the vigil... Yep to the shots... and yep to the mineral oil... It is a waiting game. No you do NOT have to belong to a club... In fact I just get together my nieghbors sometimes and we come up with "themes"... Hitched on Horseback (wedding theme) Arabian nights... Rescue Rangers (that is a doctor, nurse, patient one).... I want to dress up as a crash dummy... My horse buddies don't seem as excited about that one... We are doing Horse Fantasy this time (knight leading dragon ), mounted Zebra and a Unicorn. The ground crew are fairys as well as a couple mounted fairies... We have done Alice in Wonderland, Broadacre bandits (cowboy and indians and we are from a tiny area called Broadacres) and Favorite Superheros (can't tell you how much fun that was)... We sell out completely for these events making sure to incorporate the theme in music. The more ppl you get involved in your theme the more fun it is... I always have lots of ppl on the ground... for spacers to keep ppl off our tails and usually design a banner to be out in front. I have been known to parade with as few as 3 ppl but I much prefer my larger groups of say 6 mounted and 20+ ground crew... In the alice in Wonderland theme... the spacers were cards.... and we threw candy hearts... I was the queen and was in a cart....Shouting Off with thier heads... he he... My daughter led out as "Alice" and we had tweedle dee and tweedle dumb.. My horse was the white rabbit and we even had the catapillar.. (can't remember his name right off)....And then there was the chesire cat and the crazy hare... We played the music by tom Petty.... Our group this year is small.... 4 horses (3 mounted and a led Dragon) and about 4 ground crew... I like to have the ppl on the ground for safety.... We usually compete as a group and have recieved many blue ribbon and Purple Best in show.... Never been less than first place!!! If you haven't paraded you should... Even just you and Max.... Dress him up and parade his pretty backside threw the streets... You can even have a BYC theme!!! This is the FAMOUS MAX... You could even do a court theme!!! ha ha ha... Who would play the part of the men in handcuffs... You are famous girl!!! ha ha...

I hope not to lose my unicorn.... (cross everything and pray for my sweet mare)

It's almost time for the show! The farrier said Max would be good for another 5 weeks on his rear shoes. We made it 3 weeks tops. He was fine two days ago and I looked down yesterday....and a nail is almost all the way through the wall of the hoof, another is coming out through the bottom and the other hoof doesn't look much better. Cracking grossness. The shoe even felt "loose" when I handled it. So, I made an emergency call to the farrier to come and remove the shoes. Max is gonna be ouchy for a bit. Just glad I caught it before the shoe came off, tore off, etc.

Did some clipping on him yesterday...worked around his hooves and back of his leg. It looks pretty darn sharp if I do say so myself. A little ragged, but what do you expect from a first-timer??

I tried to do his bridle path...once the clippers went north of the middle of his neck, he said it was a no-go. So, I ended it on a good note and called it a day. We'll probably wind up having to twitch him to do it. *Sigh*

I'll need to use scissors on part of his mane to make it look not "quite" as raggedy. Don't know if I'm gonna band or just let it go au-natural. Probably natural (even length) then make a decision at another show. Just the thought of clipping his beautiful man-essence makes me sniffle up.

As I was walking around the pasture today...saw a sight. Max was beside me, I heard a mare and a gelding dishing it out. I watched them for a bit, then BAM. He mounted her, full-on. He was gelded 4 years ago! (Before he turned 2!) How the heck does THAT happen? Apparently it's not the first time because Max didn't even blink at it.

lol on the mounting thing, sounds like our house with the dogs! lol I know dogs do that for dominance, I wonder if horses are the same??

Let us know what the farrier says about his poor hooves today!!

No....he TRULY covered her. *ESP waves for understanding*

Edit: I wish I could be there for it. He won't be to the property until around 1 and I have to get ready to be at work.

The property owner said he'd be happy to let me know what the farrier said.

"He was gelded 4 years ago! (Before he turned 2!) How the heck does THAT happen?"

there are some things you cannot take away.

What one person I worked with used to say: "Honey, I got a little boy in my barn just like him".

K...Here are the stats:

First class:
Aged Geldings 4 years plus:
2nd place out of 8.

He was dancing all over the place here...but out of 8 entrants...not bad to get a second place! Especially when one of the competitors was an AQHA world qualifier!!!!!

Second class:
Multi-color Halter
2nd Place out of 2. The judge was a breeder of Palominos...lol! Afterwards she told me Max was an amazing animal and that all he needed was to be kept indoors during the day.

Third class:
Solid-color Halter
No placing because I had already placed in multi-color.

Fourth class:
Senior Showmanship:
6th place out of 8

Fifth class:
Greener than Grass Showmanship:
2nd place out of 7

Sixth class:
Greener than Grass Western Pleasure (W/T):
2nd place I was CRYING when it was announced. Out of 10

Seventh class:
Novice Western Pleasure (W/T):
4th place out of 7

Eighth Class:
Senior Western Pleasure (W/T):
2nd place out of 5

Ninth Class:
Open Western Pleasure (W/T):
2nd place out of 7

Tenth Class:
Western Pleasure Equitation (W/T):
3rd Place out of 10

Not bad for a horse who has never been shown and a girl who hasn't shown in more than 10 years!!!! Photos to come! It was 110* in the arena so they said "As long as you're not naked, you can wear whatever you want." Some people wore their high-end stuff...but I wore a tank top. Wound up that the clothing didn't matter because in several classes I placed ahead of them!!

It was awesome!
