Stop Dressing Your Daughter Like A...

I have 5 DD as most of you know and this hits home. My oldest is 12 the youngest almost 1. I can't buy them shorts in the girls department I have to go to the boys department to get them shorts that cover there tushes. My girls thankfully have no desire to dress that way so I have never had to argue with them about it. I am disgusted every time we go clothes shopping. It is sick. Have you seen the under garments for girls. I didn't wear stuff like that on my wedding night. We are learning to sew and my oldest DD designs a lot of cloths. I always think to myself "and you wonder why your DD are pregnant at 12, 13, 14" Gee maybe because they look like little prostitutes" They dress in a way to get attention that there young minds aren't ready to handle yet. This is a hot topic for me that hits home. It makes me soo mad that we as a society push our children to grow up too fast instead of letting them be kids.

We also shop in the boys section for my daughters shorts. I am so glad that "board" shorts are the in thing for girls around here. And I am also blessed that my girls have no desire to dress inappropriately. It is amazing how many online places are available for modest clothing http://www.hannahlise.com/ This is our favorite, but there are LOTS of them. Just google modest clothing girls and over 1 million sites come up. Talk about successful cottage industry!!

I think the Britney-show-your-body phase is slowly revolving back the other way.

I certainly hope so! If anyones children wanna look and act like Britney, remind them that a judge removed her privileges to raise her children because she is not fit!

Back in March my DD turned 13 y.o.
We had a small party with a few of her friends attending, they had cake and ice cream and gathered around for the unwrapping of presents.

As my DD was unwrapping a present from her best friend and we were all watching she pulls out a shirt, nice pale pink, long sleeved, high collar and made from a non see thru material and was cut to a proper length so that it would not show her belly.

She turned it around to where we could see the front and

The lettering on the front read "Girls Gone Wild".

I asked the friends Mom when she came to pick up her daughter just what was the story behind her buying my DD that shirt.

The Mom said she had been running a little late and her daughter had wanted to get my DD a shirt for her birthday gift, and at the store this shirt was the least provocative that they had!

Then parents that let their DD's dress like prostitutes cry and carry on because their baby was raped?

And peer pressure is just crazy. My DD is in counselling because she refuses to dress/act the way the other kids do, they tease her constantly.

We as parents and consumers have to step up and send a message to the big companies that market this crap and that is: We are not going to buy your clothing as long as you make this garbage

If we don't buy it, they can't keep making it.

For once, I am glad I have a teenaged boy!!!
Give him something with camo on it or a skull and he's happy as a clam at high tide...
Thank you Goddess!!

I know what you're talking about though...I've been on the playgrounds where it looks like it should be lit by red lights!
I really loved that article, because it's soooo true!

I wanna shake people...just because it's in style doesn't mean you gotta wear it...
I absolutely despise pants with saying on the back...it's just gross...If you wanna look at my butt, introduce yourself first.

Oh you don't want me to get on my soap box!!! I have a 14 and almost 12 yr old. I am SO lucky they are "tomboys" my 14 yr old has gotten out of some of her tomboyness but she says "Mom the reason I want to buy boy jeans is because they are not so tight" Grant it she is a bean pole but she can't stand the skin tight legs on jeans. My 12 yr old likes to be a little girlie but she can't stand to wear those short skirts and stuff.

I work at an elementary school K-6 grade. Oh my goodness the way some of those girls dress!!! Those so called leggings under the short short skirt. The leggings are so tight it's like having another layer of skin. We have a dress code at school but no one will inforce it because it would be all we would be doing is calling parents. Excuse me let a parent have to miss work very many times the parents will maybe try to be parents. So many of our parents are reliving their childhood through their kids. Parents of 4th graders will take their child to go pick up their boyfriend or girlfriend and then go drop them off at the movies at 7 pm!!! This behavior continues until the children get old enough to drive!!!!

I had a 4th grader walk into my classroom with so much makeup on you would have thought it was Halloween and she was dressing up as ME ME on the old Drew Carey Show plus she had a very short shirt, fishnet hose and 4 inch hills on. My mouth dropped when she walked in and all I could say was "Mary does your mother know you are dressed like this?" She said "Oh yes she helped me with my make-up!!" Now her mother is coming to me to see what they should do because now being in the 6th grade she and her boyfriend are having problems. He is stalking her and abusing her!!
What!!!

I'd better stop now.

I have had family make fun of my girls because they enjoy horses, chickens, goats and NASCAR.

Oh my goodness... don't get me going on this topic. I have three girls (12, 8, 7) and I totally agree with all of the above. Let's not even get going on finding a conservative, body covering swimsuit for any age female, but especially teens and younger. I actually had to go to the ladies department to find a halfway decent swimsuit for my 12 yr. old this summer. There was nothing for young ladies that was even close to appropriate.

Landsend Kids have modest girls clothing. Half sizes too. Kids can still be kids, it just takes effort on the parent's part. 5 DDs and 2 granddaughters.
