That is GREAT advice! I have been thinking about getting the e cig out of my life as well. Even though you can order nicotine free juice...I don't, so the nicotine is still a part of my life and body. How did you handle people smoking around you, if there were any? alot of our friends smoke and I am concerned if I didnt have my e cig i would ask for a cigarette.
Gg706, I wished there were a way that I could send what I experienced through this media so that you could experience and understand what I discovered on that day – all I can do is throw words at you.
When I was 30, most of my friends smoked. We enjoyed going to trendy bars where live music played. We would order our drinks and listen to the music. The very next day, after I “closed that door”, I accompanied my friends. I enjoyed the evening – beer, music, camaraderie, but no cigs, and it wasn’t all that difficult. It does not bother me to be around people who smoke.
I found that I was dealing with two types of addictions: Nicotine, which stays in our systems for a couple of weeks, and the worst addiction – the addiction of a behavior (a habit). I loved to smoke in the morning with my first cup of coffee, after a good meal; with a nice frosty glass of beer … we all have a host of triggers that make us want to light up. The good news is all of these triggers: the glass of beer, coffee, the good meal, are all just as good without lighting up. The bad news is that the light-up impulse stays with us long after the nicotine has gone, and it will nail you at the most unexpected times. What made it easy for me was that when I “closed that door”, I adopted a whole new paradigm. I know, paradigm is just another word that means nothing to you, but to me it was a completely different view, a completely different posture. I wished I could share it.
If you are TRYING to stop smoking, you are probably doing it wrong. Trying to quit smoking using raw discipline didn’t work for me. It was like holding my arm out in front of me – sure I can do it for a few minutes, but after a while, that arm gets too heavy. Quitting cigs with that kind of discipline puts you in an impossible situation. There are other ways around this obstacle.
