Store bought eggs hatch along anyone? I'm buying regular organic.

I think today is day 21 and nothing so far.

It is. The days almost done here though and I only have one chick out of 40 eggs and it's not even a store bough so don't feel bad. I think you were right about them being behind.

WinklerFarms- did you find your refrigerated eggs developed later.

Are us three the only ones that made it to a hatch?

Maybe the difference is whether the supplier (organic farmer) actually had a working rooster or an old man bird for show ... or the laying hens were a little too young or old ... very interesting thread ... my brain says this just ain't possible (thinking of all those poor white hens crammed in a little metal cage) and not thinking of the improvements of commercially farmed organic foods. I definitely need to know if this is doable!! Just think of the diverse little peeps you will have!!

Good luck and keep us posted!

Hey everyone, my eggs haven't made any progress. Two of them have cracks on the side, and I can occasionally see the flap of eggshell moving up and down but they are the same as when I first reported. Soooo what does this mean?

There are a lot of factors. Were the eggs refrigerated when you bought them and were they allowed to come up to room temp before you put them in your incubator. How well the eggs are fertilized as hens to rooster. Also the rooster could be an older guy so not doing a good job. How constant is your temp in the incubator. There are just so many things that can affect a hatch.

'Mine seemed to develope right on schedule. And hatch right on time as well. Actually every single one that hatched, hatched on day 21, except for one that I had to help.

I think the big problem with store bought eggs is the handling and storing. They are refrigerated to around 40 degrees and obviously never turned. Either way it is fun to hatch them.

So my humidity keeps getting up to the high 80s. I took the vent plugs out but that didn't do anything so about every 30 min I have to go down there and open the incubator for about 10 seconds to get it back between 75-80%. Is this terrible to do?
The chick that pipped yesterday got more shell off but still not out. Every time I talk to it it peeps at me and pokes its beak out. I might have to help it tonight, I hope not.
No store eggs yet! These are the eggs I set with it. Store eggs are still wiggling though.
