Store Bought vs. Fresh from the Coop *Pics*

That's simply amazing..

I notice the little 'EB' stamp on the storeboughts, too... To think that's literally the "best" Eggland can come up with is really pretty funny, if not a little bit sad.

Those things you get at the grocery store are not eggs.

Right about the time I thought to myself that my eggs didn't taste much different than store bought eggs, I went to my mom's house and she was cooking store bought eggs. I looked at them and thought

mine are WAY better than THOSE!

There's nothing better than fresh eggs!

BIG difference! My hubby thought they they all tasted the same until he broke down and bought some a few weeks ago, no one here was laying. He said never again!

Hi,

I haven't eaten store-bought eggs in a LONG time but I do remember a few times that I ate them that they tasted really peculiar, I mean so bad that I couldn't finish eating them. This has never happened with my "home-grown" eggs, never. They might taste a little stronger, more "eggy" if you will, but as long as it's a good taste (which it is), it's fine with me.

Just would like to mention that my mom is 87 years old (will be 88 on 11/18) and she eats two of my fresh eggs every day and it hasn't done her a bit of harm. She has had a high cholesterol level for at least 25 years (can't get it down no matter what--she has tried every diet there is and it's still over 300, actually closer to 400) but the eggs haven't made it any worse. She feels that the protein in the eggs is very beneficial and may be contributing to her longevity. Who knows, but at her age, I'm not going to argue with her and I'm not about to take those highly nourishing eggs away from her!

I used to tell my parents I didn't like eggs. It wasn't true. I love scrambled eggs or a good omelet, but I remember before I could finish my meal, my tongue would feel funny and the back of my throat would feel greasy. Being a child, I couldn't quite figure out how to explain that. It came out as, "I don't like eggs." I found out later that I was allergic.

Fast forward some years to our first chickens, fed on forage, scratch, and good quality feeds. No tingle, no greasy. What on earth have they been feeding those poor birds laying the store eggs?

I just used up the last of our store bought.

It was auwfull to smell them. The store bought almost made me sick with how they smelled after using our free range eggs. Our eggs have no smell that I can tell. Taste way better too. We will not be buying anymore from now on.
