Stormcrow's Hobby Farm

Did that one have a dark face?
Yes.

Took three others. Two 3yr-old SLW hens (one more to go, still too wiley for me to catch), weights 4.16 and 4.30# respectively, also the darkest roo from the recent hatch, 2.75# +/-.

So two old, two new (first was from the March hatching). Have at least six more to take. The last SLW, an older mostly dark rooster with a comb deformity, an almost all black mutt hen starting to molt, one more dark roo from the March hatching, and two still in the grow out pen (also dark, one black on blue, the other black and burnt crimson).

Unfortunately, its 97 out, heat index 108, there is no shade where I process, and I'm just too soft to keep working in that.

Its cooled down quite a bit, we hit 99 / heat index 110 mid day - now that its only 85, I am out gathering grapes to make a go at wine making. Have probably 10 gal of grapes, some of which were already starting to become raisins on the vines.

Most will go to the freezer for later. I'll finish gathering tommorow.

We have some wild grapes that make really good juice. I don't think there are enough to make jam/jelly. We're going to go out with the trailer and step ladder to see how many we can get. Most are out of reach, as the vine grew up a mulberry tree.

The grapes I planted last year are growing very well. Maybe some grapes next year....?

Year two is ok. Year three is better.

and I need to prune hard then replace my steel cable support. It pulled the eye bolt this year.
