Ah, they see fences the way deer do up here: a challenge! Some people use a double fence: two fences, about 3-4 feet apart. They're far enough apart that deer can't clear the distance and the height. They see the small area between the fences and know they can't land safely, so they don't jump in. This means that you have to put up two fences, but they don't have to be 9-10 feet tall to keep out the deer. I think someone told me 6 feet would be tall enough.I use an electric fence, but mostly a lot of space. My goats could easily clear a 6' fence, they simply choose not to.
Wouldn't it short out in the snow in winter? We had about 14" on the ground until recently.I bought rolls of hi tensile steel wire, then stretched a perimer. Grabbed the next roll, repeat. four times after that. Then stretch and tension, connect the power
Electric netting has worked for us. We put it up in the spring, move it to mow/trim a few times a year, and take it down in the fall.I would LOVE to have an electric fence to keep thedeer, raccoons, and groundhogs out of my garden.
Had 4 ft electric fences for horses in the 60s and now I had e poultry net. deer go over both. when the ground is dry or snow packed animals don't get shocked. The snow is a good insulator.Wouldn't it short out in the snow in winter? We had about 14" on the ground until recently.
I know you don't have that problem, but I surely could. I would LOVE to have an electric fence to keep thedeer, raccoons, and groundhogs out of my garden.
Well, that sucks. You still have to do it, but it sucks. I'm kind of surprised it's so far off, out of the box.Going to spend $30 just dialing onto the paper.
