All the calls from this hatching will go to the neighbor. So Blackbird pictured here with the white fluffy butt? Neighbors flock.

Was supposed to rain all week, now chances are less than 5%. I do not have a quarter mile long hose to keep it damp..
I know what you mean. We have a garden that is too far to run a hose, so we put an IBC tote near it. We take water out in buckets, milk jugs, whatever, and fill it up in the spring. Then it's available for me to use all summer long when I need it.

As DH says, July/August hubby will be glad that April/May hubby did this. He hates hot weather.

My driveway. Another 50 passes or so and it should be fine till the next gully washer...

and I've already run 100' extensions of buried water lines in three directions from my pump. But it's 800' plus down the driveway before it turns, and another 600+ to the street. I am NOT trenching 1/4 mile of clay to a depth of 18" to set up 10 spigot and some 75' hoses...

Will you need water that far away in the coldest part of winter?

If not, you could use ADS black pipe and lay it beside the drive. At the farthest end of the run, install a drain spigot. Open it (and any spigots on the run of pipe) before freezing weather to winterize.

Later you can bury the pipe as is or take apart and reuse elsewhere. ADS comes in 100ft and 300ft sections so few connections and less leaks. It can lay on top of the ground with little damage from the sun and weather. Works great to throw in a line "right now" when you need it at relatively little cost for what you get.

Another thing I've learned along the way is...if you are going to trench in water lines a great distance at least run an electric receptacle if you can. You never know where you'll need to work on something. lol
