Stormcrow's Hobby Farm

Oh, indeed, I can imagine.

Frozen and broken pipes, so no water. Possible power outages, lasting days. Possibly no heat, and who in Florida has woodstoves or fireplaces? Who would have the clothing for such weather? And no experience driving on snow/ice.

I drove to Florida one Christmas. Key West was in the 40s. Restaurants and bars had handwritten plywood signs saying they had a fireplace. 😂
I was camping in the back of my truck with an aluminum cap. If it hadn't been so humid I would have thought it was pleasant.
Tennessee on the way back I woke up to an ice sheet, that was far worse

Our county is shut down. Yes, few of us have anything other than electric heat.
Same here. Everything just shuts down.
Our house is totally electric. We do have a fireplace with propane logs. They don't get used much
Most people stay home and wait it out. Doesn't last long.

I think we have about 4" of fluffy snow. The deer came through this morning but I have not seen a single squirrel. They must be sleeping in.

I get snarky comments from others about the South shutting down for 4" of snow.

Reminder:
No plows
No sand
No salt
No all season/snow tires
No experience driving in snow

So we take a day off, clean off our cars and shovel so the sun can melt the ice.

Maybe they are just jealous :p

Colder tonight, but no snow. County is still shut down - we weren't above freezing long enough for most roads to melt on their own - so all the back roads are black ice (or orange, we have a lot of clay roads w/ no hard top)... Needless to say, I'm not leaving the house - not even on the tractor - until we get 24 hours above freezing.

Because as @fuzzi correctly observes, there are no snow tires around here, and none of my neighbors know how to drive in this. By accident, I have mud/snow tires on mine - but I can't drive in it until it melts. 100s of thousands of miles experience driving in the rain and its aftermath.
