Story of a boy and his chickens.

He seems to have no ill effects aside from the occasional moment he decides to use that foot as the dominant foot to climb. But I mean if I can splint it will it heal? If it's worth it I will do it. I mean he is 11 weeks old so it wouldn't be the biggest hassle to hold him down.

If it's been awhile since he broke it I'd say the likely hood of it falling off is low. You'll notice it changing colors if there isn't any circulation and eventually it will fall off though I've never been able to stand watching the process and take them off myself first. If it hasn't healed already you'll probably be fine setting it. If it has, you'll have to break it again to set and risk loosing the toe then. Whatever you decide just watch it for loss of circulation or infection. Loss of a toe isn't a major issue for a chicken so it really just depends on what you feel is best for him.

^ Thanks. It's still yellow like the rest of his toes and foot and it has been at least two weeks since I first noticed it. With these factors I am going to leave it alone and just keep an eye on it.

Late on photos.....here's a mixture of 12 weeks old and 12 and a half weeks old. They will be 13 weeks tomorrow and I will begin taking more pictures tomorrow. Still haven't decided on which Cockerel to give up between the RIR and the deleware. For every down fall one has they also have a great quality to that another doesn't have. I'm thinking it's gonna be a brooster the RIR. He is going to be huge. He has been crowing for a couple weeks now. Very cool! He doesn't like Elvis the GLW at all. Matty Ice the Deleware has been dominant since they went outside at 6 weeks which is funny because he picks fights with no one but both the other cockerels fear him. Even brooster runs when Matty walks over despite being larger then him. And I have never seen any hackle flares towards Matty. Nor does Matty really do it. He just walks up, makes a noise, and everyone runs.
