Chapter 11

Today was really windy, and cold! Luckily the lightbulb was on to keep everyone inside. We all huddled together closely to share our warmth. For some odd reason Jasmin, the Black Japaneese refused to come inside with us. We ate, talked about the eggy gossip, and made fun of how Houdinni kept screaming whenever someone threatened to touch her pearly white egg.
After a couple of countless hours the feeder girl came back. None of us wanted to go outside- and we still hadn't seen Jasmin. We heard a loud yell, and Willow wondered what it was. We heard crying, and thought it was Jasmin.
"Oh no! What's wrong?!" Bell'e questioned.
"I don't know..." I answered.
"Jasmin!" Fern shrieked. It was Jasmin. None of us knew what happened, but unfourunatly that little bantam was gone. We all mourned together and all went to go to Jasmin's burrying. We all said some nice words and thoughts to Jasmin and left her to be.
The day was pretty slow, except for me being picked up a lot and hugged. But I didn't mind it because we all were sad.
RIP Jasmin. May 20th 2010 - Sept. 30th 2011

(What really happened:
It was really cold, and windy out and everyone was inside except Jasmin. She was huddled, and shaking in the corner. I picked her up, and brought her inside, where she seemed very groggy, and she couldn't stand. She would barely eat or drink, so I had to feed and water her. We had her in a cat carrying kit (One of the huge ones,) andstuffed hay, food, and water inside. She would just lay down, and about 2 hours after we brought in, she passed. Rest in Peace my little Thriller Dancin' show bantam.)

Chapter 12

Today was a nice breezy day.
"Sophie!" Willow called.
"Yes?"
"I found you a nice beetle!" Oh boy! I loved beetles!
I ran over to Willow who seemed a little slow, but I didn't worry. It's early!
I gobbled up the bettle, and both of us skipped off to find Fern,Sandy, and Lacy. Fern and Sandy were eating the pumpkin, and boy did they look funny! With pumpkin guts all over their mouths, Fern's beard was all juicy and Sandy's beak was covered in orange yumminess!
"Hey guys! May we join?" I asked
"Go ahead Sophie! Hey, just wondering. Do you know where Button is?" Sandy inquired.
"Havn't seen her all day!" We giggled. Button was usually trying to get Houdinni out of the nesting box, but instead Houdinni always growled at whoever went near her. Ugh, broodies are the worst!
"Where's Lacy? Laying one of her first eggs I presume?" Willow wondered.
I started thinking about Daddy. Everyone has been SO proud of me since about every 4 days I lay a huge triple yolker! It's really weird- all of the older chickens said my eggs should be normal sized, but they aren't!
"Hey guys, I'm gonna go say hi to Daddy, wanna come?"
"Sure Soph" Sandy said.
We walked together just humming a little song and wondering when the feeder girl would get home. Sandy liked to follow her around, and I loved to jump on her arms, legs, or shoulders! It's so much fun, she laughs and I try to eat her jacket... mmm... so good!
We arrived at our destination. Bell'e, Jewels, and Chessnut were admiring my Daddy's long, goreous tail. I for one didn't think it was that great.
"Hiya Daddy!" I hopped right next to him, kind of pushing the others out of the way, but he's is mine. I couldn't find Angelo this morning, but he was going to go to school or whatever... to show other little baby chicks.
"Hey sweategg! How are you?" Daddy hugged me.
"I'm fine

. Hey Daddy, I was wondering, what is your favorite-"
The feeder girl was home! I didn't even have time to finish, or want to finish because I could finally try to peck her jacket and clean it!
We heard a scream. No, not one of those happy screams. A loud, crying scream.
Most of the hens and roosters ran to see what happened. Right in the nexting box, where Lacy had just layed her egg about 70 minutes ago, was a cold, deformed Willow.
I was in shock! It looked like she was just laying a normal egg, except that one of her legs was hanging out of the nexting box, which is shouldn't be.
"Move it, MOVE IT!" Daddy screamed. He was observing the situation. Bell'e came up and she was thinking that she was egg bound, but no one really knew. The feeder girl rushed inside while her mom got Willow. Poor little limp willow. I started to cry. No... not one of my best friends!

RIP Willow:
April 13th, 2011 - October 18th, 2011.
Rest in Peace my little Wyandotte!

(What happened:
I came home from school, and saw Willow in the nesting box. I thought she was laying an egg, but her leg was hanging out like she freaked out. I got my mom, but my mom didn't want me to see Willow since I would proably start crying a lot more than I did- and she wanted me to remember her as her joyous, pretty self. I believe she got egg bound, but I couldn't tell since I only saw her for a few minutes. I can't believe after all we've been through, she's gone. When I first got her, she was the sick little baby of the bunch. She would always loose her balance- wouldn't eat or drink much, and was kind of bloody when we got her. Then at a couple week old, I tried putting everyone in, and the coop door accidently got stuck and her toe was in it. I had to find out on BYC how to remove the access part of the hanging toe, and it worked. About 2 months ago, she couldn't walk. I had to be outside EVERY minute because she would always fall down, and everyone would leave her. I just hope she will rest in peace, and have fun playing wiht Jasmin in Chicken Heaven.)

I'm sure little Jasmin is rockin' out and Willow's probably up there trying to get her to be quiet. xD
