Thanks Rancher, that's sweet. I admit that I do collect as well as making my own. Because of money constraints, I tend to buy from exceptional emerging artists. I do have one piece that is a pivotal work from an established CA artist, but it was shown in my gallery and I got a cut on the price - I thought that it was honestly underpriced to begin with. But, the artist set the price, so that was her own deal. I don't think that she realized that it was her finest piece at the time. But, I've tracked her work since, and it still is IMO. It's my prized possession. Hubby bought it for me for our anniversary.
Maybe you're right
It was lower than a grand, I remember that much, but that was 8 years ago and through my own gallery - so no commission. It was also early on with this medium, so I was still figuring it out. I would certainly charge considerably more at this point. Later on today or tomorrow I'll take some pictures of the rest of them and pm you if you want. They are considerably darker. Most deal with women's and children's issues, but in the same subtle way.
The one I posted currently resides with my brother in San Francisco. But, other than the couple I sold, it is the only one that isn't in my house. I'm excited about my next one, but it's going to be huge and quite a challenge to puzzle out. I'm putting off starting it because I am kind of enjoying having a clean house and fresh baked muffins
But, it's been calling so it's probably time to get started. Ahh well, winter is coming anyway.
OP - sorry for the hijack
