Struggling after dehydration and loss of duck

Sending hugs to you and your birds! Electrolytes like Miss Lydia said would be best, it’s helped my dehydrated duck a lot! Do they have a swimming pool? Also how many do you have? If its an option, bringing the most critical ones inside out of the heat to monitor their condition may help them and may ease your mind a bit! So sorry for your loss and for your sad little gander! hugs hugs hugs

I may only take short trips until we relocate closer to family. If we’re eventually able to live by my sister (and fellow poultry keeper), I’d comfortably leave for extended trips. Funnily enough, we got birds over a year ago while my brother lived within walking distance (built in pet sitters), but they moved a short time later.

I should update to clarify that I sent her home indefinitely with no plans to have her back. The lack of contact from her following that is troubling. I try to imagine myself in the situation of being “falsely accused,” and I don’t think I would have conceded so easily. We have a few nannyless weeks before my husband’s schedule changes, so we’ll reevaluate then. Here goes!
The silver lining, if there is one, is that in asking my neighbors if they noticed anything during those days, they have all offered to help. I hate asking a peer to do a job I used to do as a teenager, but I suppose they’d be more reliable.

Oh, I am so so sorry for your loss. I know how that feels. :hugs
I'm surprised that your other birds lasted for so long w/out water. Have you added electrolytes to their water? That should probably help them.
(Sorry that I posted in the middle of the thread)
Once again, I'm really sorry you had to lose one of the ducks. :(
Agree about the others lasting. I posted a while back about Mrs. Eggman molting, and despite others think she looked okay, she looked a little rough to me. But she acted normal. I wonder if her body was already in overdrive making new feathers and couldn’t last quite as long.
My remaining flock has been getting electrolytes and vitamins and are doing well. We’ve had shaky egg production since then, but I am hopeful that will ramp back up. We have been spoiling them with TONS of yard time.
