Oh boy... No need to experiment with fish meal. If you are using S&P, it is formulated correctly and has the right amount of fishmeal already in it. Just see to it that the birds eat ALL the feed. A spray of real olive oil if that works (I haven’t tried it) - no polyunsaturated fats, they go rancid too quickly and then you have a whole new problem - or mixing up the fines left behind in the trough feeder every few days(no waste feeder!) with a bit of liquid and feeding nothing but that for a day, or mixing up all the feed with water and feeding it fresh ever day or fermenting it are all good options. S&P say to make sure the chickens eat ALL the feed and give suggestions in their feeding instructions. If that is too much work just get pellets. Many of us are grateful to have a more natural product than the extruded processed stuff more commonly fed, though. No need to be down on S&P for offering a quality product that people need to be a tad more thoughtful about.
