Hi All, I have a baby Cream legbar hen that quit growing at about 3 weeks. It is feathering out, acting healthy, running with the others but VERY small, the size they were at 3-4 weeks and they are now 6 weeks old. Has anyone had this happen where an apparently healthy chick quits growing? Should I cull her?

Could be genetic, could be vitamin related (and if there's a deficiency, it's likely that she has a problem that prevents her from synthesizing/absorbing vitamins, so probably genetic anyway.) If you want to keep her, I'd try dosing with a good amount of nutri-drench of other poultry vitamin supplement.

Also, check out this page:

And do a ctrl+f "growth" if you want to know more.

Here'a a photo of the chick and the difference in size. They are all getting the same feed which is a high quality medicated feed. She came smaller from the hatchery at 3 weeks but never really started growing. I am wondering if the Merak's vaccine they give them can do this?
