Stupid cat is peeing everywhere!

I work at a vet clinic and our first suggestion would be a urinalysis to check for a UTI.

how many litter boxes do you have?

how many cats do you have?

have you changed her litter?... like gone from happy cat to multi cat? or changed from clumping to clay?

when did this start?.. go back to that time and see if there was a change.. in food, litter.. family dynamics

what breed is she?.. this sounds crazy but some breeds are known for having temper tantrums. My friends Persian is a brat when ever she goes on vacation, when she returns the cat will pee all over her clothes

if a uti is ruled out, you may have to go back to basics in training confine the cat to a room where you can watch it, and when you cant watch it secure it in a room with a litter pan and slowly increase the amount of free space the cat has

Yes, definitely have her checked for urinary tract infection - I just spent $900 at the vet because my cat was blocked. I thought he was just being bad, but he was in pain - It will save you $900 if you go and it is better safe than sorry...

Urinary tract infections, moving the litter box, changing the type of litter used, and unsanitary litter boxes can all initiate abnormal urination. Also senility can be a factor. We once had a 21 year old cat that started urinating any where but the litter box. She'd defecate in the litter box then go and pee in a corner of the room. Once abnormal urination patterns develop, they can be very difficult to eliminate. Good luck.

My girlfriend wen thru this years ago..........after spending tons ofmoney to find out why, the vet told her she just has a dirty cat. She eventually had her brought to a no-kill shelter.

We have one litter box to two cats

We went to a wheat based litter, but that was at least a month or two ago

She is just a regular barn cat, no specific breed. When she was growing up at the barn, since no one was taking care of the kittens but the momma cat, the babies would just go in a pillow-lined basket.

I think that is the reason why she is doing it. She has always had some issues with peeing somewhere occasionally, but never like this. My mom is a vet, so I'll talk to her about a possible infection.

Thanks!

she may not like the litter.. cats can be picky, also you need more litter boxes, even though she once shared a box with the other cat, she may not want to do it any more. My vet told me you need at LEAST 1 box per cat, preferred to have one more box then cats in the house

Yeah that's a good idea... I'll have to buy another and switch back to the old littler and see if that helps. It gets annoying though finding your stuff soiled

Just got back from the vet. He thinks it is an UTI. Sample on the way to the lab now. Starting the antibiotics tonight. I expect I'll be doing a little mopping with pine sol tonight.

The fleas have just gotten awful here the last couple weeks, so all the cats are going on Advantage and Capstar.

Imp- Wish me luck dosing the ferals.

Good luck silkiechicken, you are very fortunate having a vet in the family.

Mine is a Siamese male, not fixed. My son fell asleep in the floor on a blanket. I covered him up, then my cat came in her and peed right beside him on the cover I just put over my son. ugh.. I picked it up and put it in the washer, got another blanket and I be darned, if he didn't do it to that blanket too.. Litter box is clean. But he is about to become an outside cat... Cat pee is so strong.
