Stupid Quail

I just got 2 quail to keep my pet quail rooster company(the 2 quail were female) and one of them just stands around and does nothing, even when my quail tries to stand and peck her. She just does NOTHING. Is this normal? I got the 2 quail from a farm, the rooster that I have I incubated from an egg. The other quail is normal though.

I think our BYC member 007Sean raises quail and pheasants, I bet he could answer your questions.

Did you just get this quail? Quail don't handle stress very well and the move to your place may have caused her stress. It can take a couple of weeks for them to settle in and become 'normal'

Or maybe you have a dumb quail.

Both the new quail and your boy are under stress, throwing 2 different birds together that weren't raised together is a gamble. It might work or not! Be prepared to separate them if the pecking continues until ones seriously injured.

The other quail that I just got yesterday is fine, though. This quail isn't like that, it's like it's a statue , And yes, my roo is fine. He stopped pecking both of them.

Do you have a picture or video? Have you checked the eyes of the odd quail? I have hatched a few with eye issues and they don't act like the regular quail because they can't see properly.

Their eyes are fine, and so are their legs. The eyes are shiny and black
