stupid winter ducks

Mine also love their house/home and if even looks like it's starting to get dusky my goose starts making the alarm call[ woman get out here and open the door] lol. My muscovies just stand around at the opening of the door waiting for me to close them up, they could go in by themselves but it seems they like mama to tuck them in... :love

Well at least I'm not the only one with rule-abiding ducks! :D

LOL - My ducks are also very law abiding

I have always shut them in every night. Once their pen door got shut while they were free ranging and I found them all tucked into a corner beside their house in the dark waiting and I'm sure wondering why they were "locked out".

I'm in cold and snowy Ontario and my ducks are spending most of their time in their house. They come out to get a drink and a bite to eat and head back in. I put out hay on the ground in their pen and they will stay "out" longer but if the wind starts to blow they prefer to be inside...

I would certainly herd them in and shut them in. They will start to realize it's not such a bad thing to be tucked in out of the wind and cold.
