Went up to drop my li'l one off at Pre-K...

they are doing a series on babies; springtime animal babies...

so I was asked if I could bring in a baby chick...I said yeah; but they arent
your typical fuzzy one anymore...they are funny looking at almost 4 wks old...

she said thats ok...but had proposition for me...

apparently, with the help of the U of I extension office, they are hatching
their own...approximately 12...but they needed a home for them
......

does ANYONE SEE WHERE THIS IS GOING?????????????

my 31 is now turning into 45 in May!!!! (I DONT HAVE A PLACE for 45!!!)...

maybe by then my hubby will be able to build another coop? LMBO...

I'm sure I can find homes for them on CL or something...

but this will be fun...straight run..not knowing what breeds...

Chicken math exists in multiple forms.

The "oops I forgot" version

The "there were only 6 left in the chick bin and I didn't want them to be lonely" version

The "well the incubator was empty" version

The "it's a rare breed" version

The "I don't have that variety" version

and on

and on

I do not see a problem with the community sponsored "they hatched them at school" version

I recommend that you just keep building coops for the foreseeable future.

Good luck

The last time I agreed to take the classroom hatched chicks it was only supposed to be just the six they thought they'd hatch. Turned out to be twelve when she had a 100% hatch rate!

Never know where chicken math will strike...

Ahh yes, chicken math. It does hit you when you least expect it to and there is no way around the inevitable. Just surrender to the powers that be and enjoy the peeps

I am the proud mama of 10 babies that were supposed to be hatched at preschool and they backed out the last minute.

Now they are going to actually incubate 24 eggs and I had to make it clear that I can NOT take any of those. I referred them to friends who have lots-o-chickens.
