I collected the eggs yesterday and I was surprised to see A really large egg compared to normal. Has anyone else ever had this happen?

Nope....NONE of us have ever seen that! :lau I'm totally pullin your leg! Very common, especially with new laying hens...their bodies are tryin to figure out this whole "egg makin" thing :hugs

Bet it's a double yolker! :p Someone on a thread I made about a Fairy/Fart Egg posted that one of their hens laid an egg inside an egg!! Went beyond being a double yolker, but both eggs had yolks in 'em. Imagine those being fertile and hatching. The first yolk would've been crushed, probably. :(

But no, I personally haven't seen it. :) Have seen a less-than-bite-size egg, though! Who knows if it has a yolk; my grandpa accidentally threw it away.:lol:

I've had well over 20 laid. All of mine were double yolkers...and I save them for us. Never sell them to anyone cause I don't want them thinkin they're gonna get those from my hens, everytime, lol. @BlockedRelic06, I saw that thread too, of the two separate eggs and yolks inside an egg. That was amazin. Never had seen that.

As @Leighe said, it might just be the new experience of making eggs for the hen. One of my RIRs lays particularly large eggs so depending on which chicken it was it might also just be their egg size.
