Sumatras are laying nicely right now (they are the ONLY ones!)

I'm looking for blue spruce, willow, cottonwood, poplar trees or rooted starts.

edited to add that we're in zone 3/4 with very cold winter temps...so anything too "tropical" won't grow up here!

edited again to add that I'm also looking for a fast-growing vine that I can plant along the southern side of my runs to add quick shade! Must be hardy to zone 3/4 and tolerate full sun! Oh and it cannot be poisionus to my birds...and I'd like something with flowers but it's not 100% necessary.

Plenty of cottonwood and poplar around here, I take it you're needing shade?

And quickly, as those tend to be quicker growing than the oaks.

Wish I had some trees for you, equibling - I just wanted to pop on & say that your posts are always so interesting!

Yes...we had to remove a 10+ year old pine tree when we started dedoing my coop/runs and we tried to transplant but it did not make it.

So now with the exception of about an hour or so per day, the coop is in the blaring sun. I'd like something to plant (2-3) decidious trees ASAP and another 2-3 pine or spruce types for the northern part of the coop as a wind break.

Thought I'd add that if I don't have any eggs you're interested in trading you're the weird one

LOL j/k

But seriously, I'd be willing to buy some, too...as long as they are rooted and healthy...oh and not too expensive. I'm going to be paying hubby back for a LONG time with this coop addition...like $3,000+ worth of eggs, LOL

Hi! How would river birch (Betula nigra) do there? I have a quite a few seedlings / saplings. I can get tulip poplars (Liriodendron tulipifera) if those would work.
