I have never seen a black breasted Sumatra but I know some people have this variety of color specially in bantams
If that's the case this chick color will be black breasted, red shoulders and red neck
Hope someone with more experience here help you to identify it
Good luck

Im thinking its more of a Brown Red, if its a sumatra. but those nasal cavities make me think it might have something crossed in thats not sumatra recentley

I have contacted people for dun/khaki sumatra eggs, I have a couple that can spare a few each but I really want to get a few dozen eggs. If I haven't contacted/talked to you and you have this color can you please pm or email me if you can sell me some eggs? or even better, chicks? thank you !!

Heres some better pics of my sumatra. I've been able to look him over and he does have yellow soles on his feet and multiple spurs. He is very tame but very game.

question about Sumatra pullets. I don't know this answer as I got my Sumatra's when they were full grown.

At what age can I expect pullets to start laying? I assume being they are Asian, it is later than "regular" chickens. My 1st batch I incubated this year are going to be 10 weeks old on wednesday. Do I have another few months? Or longer? Just wondering....

10. Weeks is too early .
They can start at 6 months in standard size or later
Bantams start early than that regular size , weather is a big factor here

thanks, I knew 10 weeks was too early, I was just giving their age. Cool, so the oldest may start this September, depending on the temps. I should get a couple of months of eggs out of them before they stop for the season. THANKS!
