I just keep getting chicks and eggs that aren't what they say they are. So we're thinking Appenzeller Sptiz, Polish, Naked Neck, who knows what else, cross?

yep, something along those lines. Doesnt look pure to any but similar to all in ways to me. Personally I dont even see a trace of sumatra cross in that one though.
everything is wrong from tail to toe, no sumatras features or colors there at all, sorry about that.
For one, they only come in solid colors so far
black mainly, blues and splash next, then a few rare ones with whites, duns and khakis.
At least this is all available as 100% pure breeds so far I should say...

There's a seller on EBAY that auctions pure Khakis all the time. When I'm hatching again this fall I plan on bidding on those eggs.

Sad note, I lost my Black Sumatra chick. It just disappeared. It was being raised by a broody and they free range throughout the day when I'm not home so I'm unsure what might have happened to it. Now I only have the one Platinum Sumatra chick.

Thanks very much! You know, I just set 7 eggs from the guy on Ebay. Sadly, after he got his feedback, he hasn't answered my emails -- a just a question about genetics we had started before the auction ended. Out of the 7, I think only 2 are viable...I'm praying they are. From FL to WA is a long way and the PO must be praying for the lockout to end because the air sacs on most of the eggs were all over the place. Someone must have punted the box. Also, within 24 hours of setting the eggs, two began to weep. Old eggs?

yep if they were bubbling in just 2 days, they were rotten when you got them.
Just had an ebay seller with calls send me 3 that were rotten out of 6, pretty P.O. ed about that.
I always candle the eggs on arrival just to check the air cells, no need to waste incubator room if they are ruptured... 3 were just as black in the yolk area as can be, missed 1 but smelled it after 1 night in the bator.....some folks...

I'm working on the bantam duns, will be a year or two yet. Toni-marie Astin gave me one of her dun project roos. He's pretty close, breeding him back to my blacks this year, will most likely put them back 1 more time over the other pen of blacks next year, then should be in pretty good shape on them...At that point, I do plan to breed them to the blues for the platinum color too.
