I haven't scanned through all the pages of this thread yet - only have uase of a public computer - but I ordered some mixed-breed chicks from Sand Hills Preservation, and he filled out the order with 7 'Auburn Sumatras'...and I just can't find any photos of auburns. They're about 4 1/2 weeks old, and there's some Golden Lakenvelders in there, too - just to make identifying them interesting. Anyone have or know whereof I might see some photos of Auburn Sumatras?

I wonder if they are anything like the 'auburn javas' where it was a weird red colored cull/throwback?

Wow, that is quite the opportunity and not that expensive considering what your getting. Id take it in a heart beat if I was closer too!

I have never heard of it before, either...in fact, it's not listed in their catalog, however, the packing slip shows it as being offered this year, and in fact, shows there were 7 included in my order. I saw somewhere, on some site or another, (feathersite?) a mention of the color, but can't find any photos. It sure sounds like a pretty bird - if I'm imagining the "auburn" correctly. I know there's several in my chicks that could fit the bill - hard to tell, as there's also supposed to be 4 Golden Lakenvelders in there, too.
Is there a Sumatra breed association or large breeder that might know?

Not much info at all on their website...for those here that are members...how is the club? Worth it?
