Well thank you! I was so nervous. I kept thinking I was doing it wrong and bugged poor Kim to death with questions. She was so super helpful and supportive though. It was an awesome experience once my nerves settled down.Sunny-I was surprized to know Kim's swap was your first. You sounded so experienced. That was when I tuned in, too, but was too late to join.
Oooh I saw that movie when I was 16 and thought it was sooo scary! *shiver*Good morning~
I tried to start another 12" square last night, but only got a few rounds done on it b/c DD & I were watching the ole classic movie ALIEN. OOoooooo that old movie is still scary in a funny kind of way, so I couldn't concentrate on stitches.
Sunny~ Thanks for the tip! Do you have that link on hand to repost? If not no big deal. I'll scroll through to find it. I haven't had the patience to sit and try a rectangle pattern again just yet.
I was scared to try the 12", but now that I found I pattern I can do I really like them. Since they are so big we will be closer to having enough squares to make an afghan.![]()
Yes I saved the link in my favorites when Kate posted it cause I didn't have time to look at it right then. Here it is...

So instead of 13 chains, to start, you do 25. Then, of course, you would do more groups of double crochets in the middle to lengthen the rectangle but that part comes very natural once you are crocheting it. It may sound confusing but you don't even think about it once you are at that point.
It is a really easy pattern for me to do. Much easier than some of the ones I've chosen to fight through. I use a smaller G hook but I think the proportions should be correct even if you use a bigger hook. I hope so anyway. I love the way these are coming out! I use a jewel color in the middle (as Alethea suggested) then use bone or ivory to surround that, then use Caffe latte on the last row. Even with no embelishments they are a very pretty pattern and they come out so perfectly flat and even! They will look very nice in a finished afghan or other project as filler pieces.
