Summer 2012 Granny "Square" Swap (sign ups closed)

Just thought I'd log on to look at all the pretty finished squares again before I go to bed. Tonight I'd alternate searching patterns with working on DD's big ole' afghan.
G'night!!!
I am so curious about this huge thing you keep talking about! I think we need pics even though it isn't done!

I started working on the word square turned rectangle tonight but it isn't fitting into the strip well. I may have to try something else but since the official start of this swap is still a ways off I am gonna keep messing around with this one hoping that I can get it to work. The reason I'm wanting to get this down is because I am enamoured with the idea of being able to crochet/write almost anything into a square or rectangle that I want! Once I get the hang of it I could do tons of personalized stuff for kids and grandkids.

I just had to tear it out again though cause it wasn't fitting into a 12" strip. I might just do an 18" strip instead! I mean as long as the squares and rectangles are in 6" increments it will still work out just fine. Yes?

Anyway, G'night all! Hope everyone has a wonderful and full night's rest!

Tomorrow is another very early morning. We will be trying to get a new shed put up for the chickens at the new house before we move. So hoping to finish the basic construction of it tomorrow. The nests, roosts, etc can wait a bit. Ooooh, there is so much work to moving when you have lots of critters!

I'll be sure and check in some time tomorrow! :)

Good morning everyone! I hope you all have a fantastic day! I also hope we add another crocheter or two to this swap! I love to have a lot of folks to make "squares" for so I really want to add more people.

Good Morning!!!!

I really like the idea of words crocheted into squares or rectangles, so please keep us posted on the progress so you can teach us the trick. That would be so cool to be able to crochet anything you want to be able to personalize items. Good luck w/ the new coop. I hope you get a lot accomplished today. I will try to take a pic of afghan I'm working on for DD. I only have my cell phone at the moment, so not sure of the quality, but will give it a whirl.

I was finally able to get to JoAnn's this afternoon and bought the Red Heart Super Saver ~Cafe' Latte & Lion's Brand Vanna's Choice ~Cranberry. Then I headed over to Michael's and bought Caron Simply Soft~ Lavender Blue. Yippeeeeee!!!

So the only colors I haven't been able to find is Caron Simply Soft~ Royal Sparkle and Lion Brand Vanna's Choice~ Pearl Mist. I know we only need to choose 2, but wanted all the colors in case I want to make extra solid squares to add to my afghan to tie in all the pretty swaps.

I ended up ordering the Royal Blue and Pearl Mist. I really wanted one of the sparkly ones, and it seems like I never have time to go to the bigger cities and shop, so Mr. UPS is going to bring it to me :)

I made one of the rectangles--it was a lot easier than I thought it was going to be. I've got to work the next couple of days so I might not get much crocheting done. *sigh* I've really had fun this weekend working the different patterns and seeing the ones everyone else is posting :)
