Summer 2012 Granny "Square" Swap (sign ups closed)

Sunny~ We totally understand! I'm sure we've all been through the experience of moving. I know I've had some crazy stressful ones, so I totally understand. Thinking of you!!!

Betty~ Whew...glad you ordered your yarn since Joann's didn't have any of the colors. That is so weird! Usually JoAnn's has the best selection. What designs are these quilts you are making now? You are so amazing always working on multiple projects and whipping them out so fast. You are an inspiration to me. Oh how I long to learn to sew. I will make a quilt before I leave this earth...it's on my bucket list.

Happy Father's Day!!!!

We'll be down at our new business all day long for a bike race event that proceeds go toward Relay for Life. We somehow got roped into participating in a Wing Cook Off so we'll be busy with that today. I did leave a few bags of my crocheting supplies there last night incase I got a breather to play with it.

Not sure if I'll have internet today. I hope everyone has a GREAT day!

Thanks Kim! Good luck with the wing cookoff!

Happy Fathers day to any Fathers out there lurking!

It was weird that they didn't have the colors, but they had empty baskets like maybe they'd had a big sale and were waiting for a new shipment. They had lots of other brands of yarn and a lot of the Caron but not the colors mentioned in the swap. My fed x tracking is saying delivery by the 21st so will have to wait a few more days. I finished the blue runner and hope to wash and block it tomorrow and then I'll take a picture.

The first quilt top was the gecko one and the second is a hunting one with fussy cut deer, using the same pattern as the gecko. Will take a pix of it also. The other one finished is in white, green, yellow and blue and is Eleanor Burns' Pink Lemonade. Guess I'll have to call it just "Lemonade" I'll take a pix of it also. The one I'm working on now is just like the Lemonade except to have enough fabric I had to switch the colors around. The lap quilts don't take as long as the queen ones do.

It's hot again today and now we have the wind which makes it worse. It's cooling down now as the sun goes down and it's supposed to cool off some. I hope so as I'm not ready for summer yet.

Wowzers! It took forever for me to get caught up on all the posts! I had a great visit with mom last weekend but am happy to be home. My son moved Friday and and we now have the house to ourselves (well, Eric is here too ~ the chihuahua). While I was in Connecticut visiting, I got to a Jo-Ann's and was able to find the last of the Caron yarns I was missing... Plum Perfect and Lavender Blue. It took 4 different stores (Michael's, Wal-Mart, Jo-Ann, and Hobby Lobby) (I wnet to three different Jo-Ann's and 4 different Wal-Mart's in three states) (Whewww!)

but I finally got one of all different colors.

Love the pictures that have been posted. There are some really beautiful squares posted already.

When I go away for a couple weeks, I always try to take enough yarn and a pattern that will keep me busy. They laugh at me at work as I have to bring an extra suitcase for the yarn alone. I got to complete and afghan while I was gone.

I am in the process of doing another but using black, white and red instead of 9 different colors as the pattern calls for.

I also have another afghan in progress that is a never-ending granny square... 12 colors on that one. :)

I am also in another SWAP that is 12 inch squares. It is a "scrap" SWAP. We have to make 13 squares. I have 7 done now. I am trying to keep the same colors in each one but they are all a different pattern.

I do not get any notification of posts and have not for a while so will try to remember to check back in before there are so many posts it takes so long to get caught back up again.

The temps finally hit us here as well. I had moved the brooders into the garage, swearing no birds in the new house, but 2 of them died from the heat day before yesterday, even with freezer packs, so back inside they went. :( I feel terrible but I always thought that freezer packs would take care of the heat problem! As soon as we are all moved I will have to rush those new coops so they can go outside again.

kat- You are an inpiration.

I've made the first ten 6" squares for the swap and hope to take care of their little tails today.

Sunny~ I am so sorry to hear you lost a few babies.

I lost the little extreme scissored beaked one a few weeks ago. I suspect b/c the weird change in temps that went from 90's to very cold in the 40's. I was surprised she even lasted this long.

Betty~ Oh yea I remember seeing the cute geko quilt. Love it!!! You are so talented!!! Can't wait to see the deer one, the table runner along with your other projects.

Kathy~ Gorgeous work!!!! All of them are just gorgeous!!!! I just love the pattern of the afghan!

So glad you had a great visit w/ your mom. My DH and I have empty house now as well since DD is away working at camp. (Oh except for all the animals) We are getting a little taste of empty nester life. She'll be back July 7th, but will move into the dorm Aug 15th.
