Thanks Kim! Sorry you lost that cross beaked girl. I know it was expected but you still put a lot of love into that little girl!
Dreadfully out of focus. Sigh.

I am very new to the crocheting thing but Beth has taught me well. I have 9 completed squares.

Thanks Sunny! I know you put a lot of love into your flock as well. No matter how many times it happens it never makes it easy losing one.

What lovely work you are all doing. Everything is so colorful. I didn't get my blue runner blocked today. I'm in a funk I think, no ambition to do anything and I have the newsletter to get out in two days. Sigh! I'm glad I got up early and went out to fill feeders and water buckets for the chickens and my birds because the wind came up about 10 this morning and it's blown all day long. I had a hard time getting doors open to get to the eggs this evening. My resident snake, the red racer was hunting mice in the aviary this morning. Maybe it knew the wind was going to blow. It's been hot also and it's just been a nasty day. I have a half inch of dirt all over everything I think. I did bring in two squash and two tomatoes this morning and I found two baseball size watermelon I didn't know I had. They aren't the big kind so I should be able to pick them soon.

Sorry to hear about the loss of the chickens. It upsets me when I lose some of mine. I had a dove in my friends chicken pen the other day and it couldn't get out so I picked it up and held it for a few minutes. It didn't seem to mind me holding it and petting it. After a few minutes I held open my hands and it sat there for a bit and then flew off. I thought that was pretty cool. I have a situation that I can't explain. My one and only yellow parakeet got out of the aviary. I tried to catch her but I wasn't quick enough with the net and she flew into one of the eucalyptus trees. I've been hoping it would fly back to the aviary. I have never found out how it got out. I've gone over every inch of the aviary wire and found nothing. Well, tonight when I went out for eggs and to check the water, she was back in the aviary. I still don't know where she got out or how she got back in but she was setting on the perch in the flight cage with the other 6 parakeets.

My daughter in WA found a house down here in CA and they've been approved for a loan so I'll have her living closer (75miles) to me sometime in July. My granddaughter will be here the end of the month for a few days before she has to leave for Afghanistan. My daughter will be coming with her so hope to see the new place. My GD has a stepbrother that is already over there.

Back to crocheting. I have the pattern for that butterfly block. I think it's really pretty I have 6" patterns and 12" ones but haven't decided on rectanglar ones yet. I might make up my own.

I'm not getting notified again so have to log in to see if anyone has posted. Hope it gets fixed soon. Have a good evening everyone....

Sounds like here! We had a horrible wind storm yesterday! I just went out to check on the coops and went through the same fight to get in to check them and by the time I got back to the house I was covered in dirt! I had to rewash my hair cause a thick layer of grit had somehow covered every inch of my head. These sand storms are no fun at all! At least we still have our roof. Saw a bunch of damaged roofs when I drove through the neighborhood. We did lose a coop foundation that we had started but the wind was too much for it. It could have been much worse though.

Good news about your daughter moving closer! That is great! It will be so hard to have your GD gone soon though. We have all of our family home now but had loved one's over there for quite a while. We will keep her and all our troops in mind, wishing them a safe and speedy return home!!!

Had a minute so I wanted to check in and see how everyone's evening is going? It is a gorgeous night here after yesterday's wind storm. The day is cooling off and there is just the slightest breeze out that makes it even more comfortable. Simply lovely.

Hope you all are having a great night as well.
