Summer 2012 Granny "Square" Swap (sign ups closed)

Wal Mart had the Plum Perfect!!!
My Walmart has quiet a few of the yarns on our list. The Caron's (Plum Perfect and Bone) and the Red Heart's Shimmer (Shamrock & Ivory). I still haven't seen the Caron's Royal Sparkle any where, so still thinking about ordering, but have plenty of time to do so. I just keep thinking it will pop up somewhere since other folks were able to find it.

Good morning. It's going to be another windy day but hope it doesn't get too bad. I took pix of the blue runner and another doily called "wheat" I thought you'd like to see, so will upload them to this spot. I still haven't chosen a pattern yet but still looking. There's plenty of time and part of the fun is looking for yarn and patterns and even trying a few even if yu decide later you don't like them. I'm about finished with another doily and I had problems all the way through because the directions were printed wrong such as a finished row was to have 382 single crochet but to follow directions you ended up with 390. My math worked it out. Another was chain 10 and single crochet four times but it should have read double crochet. I have three rows left and they'll work out right thank goodness. Everyone have a good weekend

.

Betty~ Those are gorgeous!!!! I love both of them.

So delicate! You are such an inspiration to me. Thank you so much for sharing. I love seeing everyone's projects.

Betty ~ Oh my goodness!! Those are so pretty!!!! I love it when you finally get something finished and then can sit and look at it.

How long did it take you to do them?? I don't think I'm ready for a project quite that big--I don't think I would have enough patience. One day, maybe....

I finally got a couple of squash, green peppers and cherry tomatoes from the garden. Should make a tasty addition to supper tonight.

DH and I have been working outside cutting trim for the coop and it is quite warm outside (though nothing like some of you have had). We're taking a break and cooling off before supper, but hopefully can get the rest finished tonight.

I'm trying a new pattern (http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/julieannys-stained-glass-afghan-square). It's really pretty, but has a few stitches that I'm not as familiar with. Hopefully YouTube can get me through it.

Using the same sunflower pattern, but different color combos. I'll post a pic later.

Beth~ I hope you & hubby got a lot work done on your coop. How exciting to have fresh veggies from your garden. I really miss my garden.

Betty-Those are amazing. You are so talented. Productive, too. You're really an inspiration. Thank you for sharing and for everything you do.

Thanks everyone. The wheat doily took about a week of spare time and the runner about two weeks. I carry a bag with a book and crocheting wherever I go, like dr.'s offices and Lodge. If DH has a meeting and I am there for a dinner before, then I sit and wait on him and that's a couple of hours there. I also can't just sit and watch TV. My hands have to have something in them.

We had okra from the garden and summer squash tonight. Last night we had tomatoes and some new potatoes.

Good Morning~

I am so jealous of everyone's fresh veggies!!! YUM!!! Growing your own is the best! We use to have a huge veggie/herb bed and I miss it. I's can lots of salsa and basil speg sauce and hubby would can garlic dill pickles. We'd freeze a lot of the non acidic veggies. Oh sigh...maybe next year I can have a smaller version garden again. I've been scouting out a location that has enough
sun. I did pot up some of my fav herbs and put them on the back patio and they seem to be getting enough sun.

Here's #2 & #3 of my complete swap squares.
