I tend to prefer mutts just because I'm not a huge fan of breeders, simply because I believe there are enough dogs in this world that need rescuing and we don't need to make more that are going to take the place of dogs that need help.
But that's only my opinion and I respect others too! So really, for me, it's not being a fan of pure reds or mutts, it's more of a matter of breeders and rescues. That would be an interesting cross, I would imagine they would be extremely smart and athletic!
I watch a TV show called Mountain Men (highly recommend it to anyone!) and one of the guys on the show, Rich, has Treeing Walker Coonhounds that are trained to chase mountain lions, wolves, bobcats, coyotes, etc. It's very neat to see!
