I use oil, deep enough so that when I tip the pan over I can scoop the oil with a spoon and pour over the top of the egg - to cook the white and leave the yoke runny! Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm gosh now I'm hungry

with all this talk of frying eggs, I have a confession...Someone on the forum was talking about coddled eggs the other day. I ordered 3 coddlers for weekend breakfast. (one of my daughters does not eat eggs) Now I just have to figure out how to coddle eggs.

sounds almost like a poached egg- used to have a egg poaching pan now just do them in microwave put in a little butter, a little milk, egg, salt &pepper ( poke hole in yolk or it explodes) cook for 1 minute if not done enough add more time

Southern, the way you are talking of cooking them, we call omellettes (sp?). Beaten, then put in the pan, but not scrambled up.

Oh, and for a good tip for them, add some corn. It sounds weird but it makes a wonderful omellette.

Oh and I just always grew up eating fried egg sandwiches, they were always sunny side up, so thats what we called fried eggs. If my sis says "shall I fry you an egg?" I would either get sunny side up, or over easy.

I happen to be a chicken folk that comes from Creedmoor...small word. I live in Youngsville now though.

NO she is not describing an omelet, an omelet is a pocket of egg that has ingreediants inside be it cheese, ham and cheese Look in basic cooking 101 there is no omelet with nothing in it, that would be a fried egg
