SunTuf Polycarbonate Roof Panels?

I'm not trying to influence you away from Sun Tuf (I have no experience with it) but you might consider Ondura panels as a less expensive option. They have lasted well for 10-15 years on a garage for us, so we put them on a barn too this summer. Very easy to handle.

Thank you---I looked at the video on YouTube and it looks good. I like the fact that you don't have to pre-drill the holes for the fasteners.
Can I ask what climate you have?
I'll show it to my husband and see what he thinks!

Thanks, FlyWheel.
We are looking for something easier to handle than a metal roof and are hoping that the SunTuf panels will be the answer for us.

I think the polycarb panels will be harder to work with. Also you have to be careful because they are suceptable to damage while installing. Plus there is the extra cost of support strips that are required.

What's you concern about metal roofing? Cutting it?

Noise, cutting, weight, handling. Hubster is in the process of evaluating options.
Right now, he's leaning towards the SunTuf. He likes the idea of letting a little light through the panels---I think we would get the Solar Gray color if we choose SunTuf. I like the look of the Ondura a little better than the SunTuf.
Metal roofing looks great, I have to say.
I am married to a walking think tank, lol---research in progress.
Thanks to everyone here for your ideas and opinions---much appreciated!

Great Lakes - close enough to the shore to get regular lake effect snow. Average winter (Dec,Jan,Feb) temperature of about 20 degrees F.
Thanks---so you have experience with winter!
Did you install the Ondura over plywood or on purlins?
We would be using purlins with whatever spacing the manufacturer recommends.

Noise, cutting, weight, handling.

I used metal on my coop roof (I think it's called 5V). But the way I design things is to make as few cuts as possible. So I bought the shorter sections at Lowes (8' I think). Those are lot easier to work with than 12' sections of the poly carb. And I made a sloped roof instead of a typical angled roof (don't remember the right terminology at the moment). That way I didn't have to make any cuts. But even if you do have to cut metal roofing, tin snips is the way to go. No noise or sparks.

$15 per 8' sheet at Lowes. Easier to cut with snips than 5 ridge metal roofing is.
