Well... We built a coup, penned in an area, did some research and got some chickens! Two gorgeous Australorpes. Both good girls and good layers. Here are some things we really want to know.... Neither perch. Even though we built one. Why? And they keep flying out of the pen. It's only 3 foot fencing. Better to get higher fencing or clip flight feathers? Lastly for now, why does one lay spotted eggs and the other plain brown? Thanks all! We're really enjoying our birds!!

You can do either one - clip wings or build it higher! I am assuming they will use the roosts eventually. I have never had Australorps so I am not sure about the egg color.
