Support Group for Abused Duck Keepers

I'm so sorry :hugs :(

What set up was the broody in? Are there any more babies with her?

I'm so so sorry:( :hugs

That’s so sad :(
So sorry

Dang, I would be, too. What a bummer. 😕

I am so sorry to hear this too and if she hatches out anymore I would be sure to bring them inside until you can figure out a safer enclosure for them. It's so hard to lose them. I pray you can find a solution to your setup for them.

Thank you guys 😔:hugs. I'm gonna try again with eggs in a few weeks once they start laying again, it's just annoying having to start all over. I'm really really hoping that the Ducklings I have now will bond with mama.

It was a pretty good setup, hardware clothed everywhere, had half of a roof and two sides of a 5'x5' area is a plastic siding. One of the only problems was just that the one side didn't have hardware cloth - it was chicken wire from the outside mesh for my run (the enclosure is inside the duck run.), and a snake must've gotten in through there.

Here’s one picture for now, I’ll upload the rest later. Her feathers are the reddish things.

I have 4 schools hatching my eggs In the next 4 weeks
I start them a week apart so I’m not running like crazy all at the same time
First school got 12 eggs as we have buyers for that hatch
She started them last Wednesday
Yesterday I went to show her how to candle and what to look for
All 12 eggs are growing
My boys really do a good job
The second school I will take everything in today and she will get the incubator up and running then start tomorrow
She will get 10 eggs
We start on Wednesday’s so if babies come a few days early or late it still hits during the week and class can usually catch a baby hatching :)
Third school is getting 6 eggs as we only have a home for 6 fir that hatch
Forth school we don’t have a home set up yet so if we don’t find a buyer for my eggs then I will have her hatch my eggs I’m buying from a friend as I’m adding 2 Ancona ducks to my flock and my brother will be taking the rest of the ones that hatch

Nugget is playing games again
Today was different though
She didn’t come out this morning not even for a drink
I checked under her and the eggs are all warm
Maybe she was trying a few days back but when she got off and didn’t go back I took the eggs that evening
She may have been trying to get a nest of eggs built up
I’m going to see what today brings if she stays all day then I’ll mark those eggs tonight so I don’t end up with 30 eggs under her
I have 10 girls that all lay daily that could add up really fast

That's so cool that you have so many hatching in the schools. The kids on my bus get soooooo excited whenever they get to see the hatching of these babies. My own Grandchildren loved seeing mine hatch in my homemade incubator in my living room last year. There is nothing like seeing a baby being born no matter what type it is.

That's heartbreaking. I'd probably go snake hunting...
But then, I have a bad habit of shooting useful snakes and not the Rattlers I'm looking for. I'm sorry @Corbdee.
