Yes, I am unfortunately sure it was blood.
It was fresh, watched it dry and everything.... Poor little girl didn't seem to think anything was wrong.
I have to wonder if maybe the drakes got too rough, or ganged up on her. Idk. She seems fine now, hanging out with her crew. I put a leg band on her so I don't forget which one had a nose bleed.

She looks like my Mallards, is she a Mallard or Rouen? She sure is pretty. They make the best Mom's.

She is a Rouen... (We call them the ducks of Rohan)... She won't brood on her eggs though.

... Though I have a hen that is determined to brood on eggs, so I gave her duck eggs. I don't have perches for more chickens, but I could use more ducks. Lmao.

I don't actually expect this to end with ducklings, but I want my hen to stop dieting, and so hopefully I end up with a good outcome.

Thanks, my Mallards are my best Momma Ducks. They will sit and hatch out eggs really well for me. My Rouen Ducks could care less. Are the eggs you gave your other Hen fertile? If so I hope that they hatch out for you. I got my 4 ducklings from my Mallard and all of the other eggs she was sitting on were not fertile. One duckling I believe is a Hinny as it looks like my Black Swedish Call Duck and I think the Hen was my Muscovy. Time will tell. Just hoping to have a few girls. Good luck with your eggs hatching.

They should all be females so maybe it's inappropriate to name them after the Three Stooges. Maybe Lucy and Ethel, Laverne and Shirley.

Eh, they're just names, works for either imo!
I wanted Dougie to be a boy, and that's how she got her name

Yesterday she had some blood coming out of her nares. I don't know why. She otherwise looks/acts normal and I can't find any injury or swelling.

.... So she gets house bath time so she can clean out her nares under supervision. I still can't see anything wrong, but at least their clean!

I don't know for sure if the eggs are fertile, but given how hard my drakes work I'd be amazed if at least sone of them weren't. I figure I'll candle them in about a week and see if I got anything. My hen certainly thinks she's doing something.

Thanks! She seems fine now, and was out hunting bugs with the rest of the flock last time I looked.

Maybe she got pecked by a chicken in her nares. My Speckled Sussex got pecked this morning right outside of her eye. Her eye was closed so I rinsed it out and got to looking and sure enough there was a peck mark thankfully not in the eye.
