I have read where it works before but when the ducklings take to water the poor Momma Chicken sort of loses interest in them. I think she thinks they have gone off the deep end. Also she could not waterproof them like a Momma Duck can so deep water would be bad unless they were totally supervised.

Well im pretty sure its a female. But its just green spots.

Oh that's neat. I know Runner females can have green bills. My Rouen, Mallards and Khaki Campbell were all drakes when they got green bills. The females stayed more orange with black spots.

Yea i know. Just like how i fill up the pool. I think 5 seconds later its dirty.

Well try filling the pool up with Dougie around, she grabs massive mouthfuls of dirt and bedding and drops them in for NO reason

I have come to the conclusion that they want those pools to look more like a pond. Ponds are not crystal clear and they want to feel they are on an open pond so they make them look like one. That is my reasoning for them to do this, LOL.

It's like how we use a treadmill and try to feel like we are running on the open road, LOL

Also is green on their bill normal?

My females with orange beaks got green spots when they started to lay eggs
Now my girl has an almost fully black beak 2 years later

Looks like it’s my 2 silver anconas with the green on the bill
