Support Group for Abused Duck Keepers

Ping is still sitting around and not eating properly. He is limping again and his right "knee" feels warm. It's not red and not swollen, and moves fully -- examining it doesn't seem to hurt Ping. I am thinking he may have caught his foot on something and pulled the joint when he went missing -- he had to get out of the wading pool, over the bottom 4" of the metal pen doorway, and then climb through undergrowth over the potting table legs, to get to the side of the shed where he took refuge. Plenty of opportunity for catching his little leg.

I am giving him frequent hyrdrotherapy in the wading pool and sitting him right in front of his medicated rehydration solution, his medicated food and his medicated ducky soup. Every little he takes has Vit B and calories, but he isn't taking many bites! He is best when his buddy O Pato is on the outside of the pen eating duck food or drinking. The other ducks don't eat much from their food bowl during the day. So I am hoping Ping will eat a good dinner later today when O Pato comes of and is eating. Ping ate a quarter of a cup of pellets with brewer's yeast yesterday evening. Maybe a little more this evening if we are lucky

Thank you fir the update
We are all pulling for Ping

I am praying that he feels better soon.
So this is the only way I can get Ping to eat: sitting him right in front of his food and water bowls and putting the other ducks food and water immediately on the other side of the pen. When they come up and eat, Ping will eat. Plus it seems Ping's medicated food is tastier than the other ducks food. Here is BFF, O Pato, eating Ping's food through then pen, cheeky boy!

My dogs are a chihuahua and a Bodauch. Half Doxen and half Boston terrier. When the babies are in the house peeping their heads off they are very curious because they think they are squeeking toys that they love so much. I have them in a puppy playpen and they can stick their heads through the bars and such and there is not a problem at all but if I was to let them run around I would be afraid they would try to catch the squeeker toy and that would be all bad. lol Once they realize they are ducks all is fine.
I could see why they think they are squeaky toys!

I also have a working dog that thinks looking after animals is his job...
My cat does not like his self-assigned job description.
Tbf, my other dog thinks she's a scout, and birds are prey... My dogs don't hang out with the birds unattended.
Denver my oldest Golden wont hurt ducks, chickens etc. But if its a wild bird she goes completely crazy.

Tucker on the other hand tries to eat the ducks, and chickens...

I hope Ping pulls through!
He's not getting any worse but I just wish he would eat more. He is quite content just to sit.

This was at 'ducky dinner time' tonight. That is buddy O Pato helping himself to Pingy's dinner through the side of the pen. O Pato has identical food in his bowl on his side of the pen. I suppose it's a case of duckfood always being tastier on the other side of the fence!!

Ping hasn't eater a quarter cup of pellets today even with encouragement.

Hopefully he starts eating soon
Do you think he could be in pain and that’s why he won’t eat
I just go back to my drake that had his boy part bit in water and his pain he wouldn’t eat
Once we got medicam into him he started to eat a little again

I have thought about pain medication, but he certainly does seem to be in pain. No reaction to me squeezing the warn joint nor to me moving it. He sits there completely placid. But I think I will have to get some medicam and try him on it. TY

I cannot buy meloxicam at TSC or Amaxon. It must be prescription only. That's a problem as I don't have a vet that will treat domestic ducks (even getting one to see a wild duck is problematic)

Yeah, the fda also made it so that we can't get penicillin otc.
IDK if it would work or not, but have you thought about taking salonpas patches and wrapping the joint? You might need to wrap it in vet wrap so the duck doesn't eat it?
I have no idea if it would worj, or might be bad for them, but it makes my joints hurt less
