Whoever said Khaki Campbell's can't go over 4 feet fence haven't met mine yet. I just watched one fly vertical 10 feet up and come back down.
I have seen videos of them flying all around a person's land and then returning. I was able to pinion my one as a baby but got the other one at 3 months so I have to clip her ever so often. I agree, they can fly.

Mine have flown over the 5ft fence.
As long as they don't take flight and leave with the next migration they can fly all they want. I have noticed since I imprinted geese on to them or vice versus, what the geese say is what goes. Every morning I put a scoop of feed down after opening the Waddle Inn up for business and out they come following the geese, geese go back they go back.

One day my husband had just finished cleaning out their house when a duck flew out of their pen, landing at his feet. A hawk had swooped down on her at the same time. Luckily he was right there and she wasn't injured.
We haven't let them roam the yard after that. Added fencing to enlarge their pen and put netting over the top to deter them from flying out and hawks from flying in. The trees constantly dropping things on that netting made it difficult to keep it up. Gave up on the netting and recently added a 10x10 pen to the pond area. Poor ducks have a smaller area now but are safer.

Keep meaning to get a LGD Livestock Guard Dog, but wife keeps finding reasons why I shouldn't get one to prevent such instances. Might just get one anyways and stick it out there, winter is coming and it needs to be big enough and trained enough before winter hits.

Thank goodness he was there
My big question is how do you get your husband to clean the coop
Mine won’t even walk in mine 😂

Same here, all Duck duties belong to me. My Son that has health problems though if he should have to go into the hospital my husband would step in I am sure. When I am 6 feet under though and taking a dirt bath, the ducks will be the first thing to go. Such is life.

It is good that yours can fly as it sounds like you have a large area for them to be in. They need to be able to get away from predators. Mine are in an older housing development with no HOA and the neighbors have Pitt Bulls that would love to have Duck for dinner if they should happen to fly out over the fence next to us. Mine have netting over the pen to keep out the hawks but get to get out once a day for treats and to be observed and enjoyed into a grassy area that is fenced but no netting. I have to clip or pinion mine to keep them safe and they really are happy ducks as they get lot of love and attention.

I clean the Waddle Inn out and the wife helps if I need it or offers to time to time. Overall about two buckets on the front end loader worth of hay goes in and out each time.
I must admit that my husband did help me put sand in the pen this year. He was there for the first few loads and then he disappeared but at least he helped some, lol.
