Whenever I have gotten a duckling or a duck that was born in early spring of that year I never saw an egg from it until the following Spring of the next year. We have 4 seasons here in Ohio though, it's not warm year round so that might be why.

We have 4 seasons i think only 3 spring feels like winter. But i hope they lay before winter.

Mine were mostly hatched out in May. That means at the earliest October would be the month possible for them and none of them have even tried since they seem to know that winter is on its way and we have had snow in November plenty of times where I am.
My pekin started at 4.5 months
Her first batch of daughters started at 4.5 months
My first blue / silver Swedish started at 4.5 months then
I got 2 Swedish girks born in late June buff and a silver the buff started at 4.5 months the other started in January along with my other pekin / khaki girls that were Daisys second batch around 7 months
It really depends on the ducks themselves

Does you weather stay pretty warm around October? It must depend on the ducks as none of my Mallards or Muscovy or Khaki Campbells ever tried before they were almost a year old, the next spring.

Mine were hatched March 15th. We get snow in November all the time here
