I am guessing we have a rooster on our hands here... we bought "her" as a hen a few weeks ago but since then it has grown a big comb and fancy tail feathers are appearing.

This "hen" was *very* different to the other roosters in the same clutch which had enormous long wattles and combs so huge that they flopped over and a very big fancy tail... was this one just a suppressed male who has now come out of the closet? :-D

It certainly crows!!

I agree that is a mixed breed rooster. If you paid for a hen, you need to contact the seller and get a refund.

Some birds just develop slower than others, like people. He just took a little longer to come into his own is all.

I agree if you paid for a hen you should absolutely contact the seller and maybe they will refund or exchange for the hen you wanted.

100% roo. Even with not much tail to give you a clue you can tell by the long luxuriant Fabioesque saddle feathers he is growing. He is very pretty. Sorry I can't help you on breed except to say he is not a New Hampshire, an Easter Egger or any of the crested breeds..lol.
