<Survival of the Fittest> A Woods RP

Nomad dipped his head and offered, "If you chase, I'll ambush. I'll see you on the other side of that ravine up there. but don't run them flat out, until I get into position."
"Ok , sounds great!" Mayan said, as she started to move into position to chase the deer

Nomad nodded agreement and veered off to the far right. He then sprinted as fast as his legs would carry him to get to the agreed upon rendezvous point. Bounding over fallen trees and diving through the thick brush, until he saw the moonlight in the clearing of the tree-lined ravine. He then worked his way down the loose dirt edge to the bottom. Ducking down behind some boulders. He tipped his head back and let loose a soft howl. To let Mayan know he was in position.

Mayan took off , chasing the herd in his direction. When the herd was about 5 yards away from his position, she howled loudly to let him know the deer where close

Nomad tensed with anticipation. As the deers started thundering through with their nose whistles and thrashing hooves, he looked for their mark. As predicted, she was in the back, struggling to keep pace with the others. So as the doe looked back at Mayan, Nomad lunged forward latching onto her front leg and causing the doe to stumble.

Mayan , as she arrived by Nomads side, jumped on the doe, slashing at her throat

Nomad held on to the leg, while staying away from the trashing hooves. He watched as Mayan ripped open the jugular with her fangs. Within moments, the deer fell motionless. He released his hold and declared their victory with a boastful howl.

Mayan smiled. She looked at the deer hungrily and joined Nomad in his howl, but then stopped , as she remembered that only wolves who are pack members howl together.

Nomad had been so worked up and in the moment, he'd howled out of habit. But soon realized he no longer had a pack. As sadness gripped his heart, he engrossed himself in the act of living. There was no solace with the dead, only heartache. "I'm sorry for howling. That won't happen again, I promise." He replied softly as he started disemboweling the deer, for the organ meat, which was high in nutrients and fast to spoil. He offered Mayan the choice bits of heart and liver. While he ate the lungs and kidneys.

Mayan smiled "Thank you!" She said thankfully, knowing he could have kept the most nutrient - rich parts to himself. She noticed he seemed sad and asked "Whats wrong?" She asked, concerned
