Rex smiled. "No problem." he said. "I loved her too much to let Jargo kill her or what she loved." he looked at Melanie, sleeping peacefully with her pups. "Besides, I love her too much. I wish I could tell her so, but I don't know if she wants me." he looked directly at the black pup; the one that looked most like Banner. "Looks like you have grandpups." he smiled.
Layla smiled. Wisps of gray hair were evident on her muzzle. "She loves you too Rex." She smiled, walking up to him. "Tell her what you feel. It'll take a weight off her shoulders." She looked down at the small pups. "I do. Boy, I'm gettin' old!" Layla chuckled.

Harli refused to go. "NO!" She snarled, standing ridged. Buck looked between her, and Jargo, and chose Harli. He stood next to her, snarling.
"GO HOME!" Endigo snarled, leaping down from his throne, advancing, with Golden Pack in tow. Dixie came along as well.

"Dixie, you traitor!" Jargo snarled. He snapped his jaws shut on Dixie's neck. He flung her to the ground hard. Endigo leaped on Jargo and pinned him. "Get out of here, Jargo." he panted, a murderous gleam in his normally soft brown eyes.

Jargo's red eyes widened. He realized that Endigo was no longer merciful to him. He slunk out from under Endigo, and turned to leave. "Harli, please, come with me. We'll get the pack another time. I don't want to lose my pack right yet. We are outnumbered." Jargo pleaded with Harli.

Rex looked at her. "I-I can't... she'll turn away from me; reject me." he looked into a puddle of water. "Banner always told me I was a hero; I don't see one in me." he said.

Harli blocked out any sound other than Endigo's voice. "This is my home." She snarled, and flung herself at Endigo. Buck slammed into Everest.

"Don't say untrue things." Layla said, her voice carrying a growl. "You saved my daughter, and her pups. Tell me you aren't a hero." She said, licking his cheek. "How can someone who loves another, turn away from them? She won't Rex. You know her."

Rex smiled. How should he tell her? "How should I tell her?" he said, speaking his thoughts.
