I saw a lady on CL selling Welsummer pullets near me. My finger is still twitching over the mouse. Must....wait....until....next....year.

In my defense, I thought it was only going to be 1 1/2 - 2 hours tops. Then, Holm told me where he really lives. I think what he meant to tell me was Canada. I had to get out of bed early and everything. I'm pretty sure DH thinks I'm an idiot. However, Jameson and I went fishing on the way home and hit up some antique stores. Plus, we got to hang out with all of Holm's cool animals.

I have an egg that I can't determine with end is the fat end. It lays absolutely horizontal on the table. Any tricks for this?

Dixie's welsummer egg is chirping like crazy. It's a rounder egg. I hope that does not pose difficulty and according to recent article claims it turns out to be a pullet. There is no pip started yet that I can see. The other egg under her had poor candling results but she kept it. Today I candled and it looks dark....? Weird. Anyways. Am leaving with her for extra day or two then remove-- just in case.

Chick ustream is back up. Bogtown special is the only chick yet.

I know that my generation is supposed to know EVERYTHING on technology but what is upstream and would I be able to see it too. Thanks

You might take it in a dark room and candle it to see if you can make out an air cell. That would be the "big end".

I'm sorry it's Ustream. It's a live camera feed from a 1st grade classroom. So go to ustream.com then in the search bar put in wha-1st-grade-chicken-eggs

There's some pips showing in the welsummer eggs and the EE's are also showing signs of pips. Silkie eggs have not pipped just yet. And the Bogtown special is saying, "HURRY UP YOU GUYS!!!" Kicking them around. LOL.

Good morning (sigh). Yesterday morning I was fine. Took one dog to the vet and by the time I left (in the afternoon) my throat was sore. By dinner time it was a full-blown cold. I do not do 'not feeling well' gracefully. Took helpers to alleviate the congestion and soreness. Ugh. . . . (heading hanging down)

This year I am sectioning parts of my gardens with chicken wire to keep the chicks from eating the hostas and such. It doesn't look real pretty and it is working. Maybe I will have some plants survive this year.

Get Well Ivie: find a good book and comfy slippers. If we were neighbors I'd make you some chicken and dumplings.

I really like waterfowl, but they get so obnoxious, and sometimes they are just way to annoying for how little they lay now
