Surviving Minnesota!

I must have had a bad dream while I was 'resting' from this terrible cold today. Holm, you grew all the way up and left us when you got married and all that kind of stuff. We really, really, missed you and life was just not the same. Bad  dream.

Dont worry. I dont plan on leaving any time soon! I'm always scared someones gonna leave the group... I miss Rhetts and many others that I hope come back...

Also does anyone know what I can do to lighten their ear lobes? Is that a dietary thing? Should I change something?

I would go with the larger bird . They seem to prefer that in the proposed standard .

Corn can cause yellowing of white ear lobes .

Thanks, I was wondering about the corn mash mix, maybe I will try to find him something with less corn... I was thinking the lighter colored one because of color, but the larger has a better stance.and better tail position.

Ivie I got some Alavert today with the "D" which hides behind the pharmacist counter and I have to give my first born in order to get it. I wonder what kind of dreams I'll have tonight. At least I'll be able to breath and not wake up with full sinuses.

I held Loretta tonight. I should have maybe waited a couple days but I couldn't help it. She is so tiny. What a difference between 3 day chicks and 1 day. She'll be butter balling soon. Dixie tried to coax her with some chick crumbles but all she did was peep back to her mother and stayed under Her breast.
Confirmation from Minnie that she's a pullet. Welsummers can be sexed easily as chicks. So for sure a Loretta.

Emptied the snowmobile trailer which had the cut and split popple that fell in the yard. Went and retrieved the JD lawn mower tonight. All is right in my world. Phew.

@jerryseI see mr. Spartz is still helping with minnow trapping though. I suppose to help get them going before the big opener. His dad was a worker.

Sadie, Roger and girls story:

At lunch I opened the front door to let Sadie out potty. She went barking down the neighbors driveway at the neighbor on his property who was backing in a trailer. So I grab her leash because she's not coming to the calls. I'm ticked. Went over and apologized for dog barking at him on his own property. He looks a little sheepishly at me and says Roger and the girls have ate all his grass seed on the new septic mound. Argh!!! So I ask him if he'd like it if I'd put fencing around the mound while new grass seeds have a chance to grow. He says he'd like that. Later this evening I brought over a dozen eggs and a bag of 10 dollar grass seed ( which isn't much) but I think my free rangers are out of the neighbor stew pot for the time being. I have VERY nice neighbors -- thank God.

Sneaks should be better, keeping my fingers crossed. She had to much starch, which makes sense, since she got into the corn the other day.
They stuck a tube down her, but it made her bleed so they took it out.
She got some kind antibiotic put into her. And my dad was given something that he needs to give orally tomorrow.

If she doesn't get better she will need to go into town and get an IV and fluids. But hopefully she gets better since I have to pay for the vet bills.

I am glad Sneaks is getting better. I had a horse that got into the grain and floundered. He had done it once before I owned him. He hated the vet because of the hose. The vet had me walk him a lot. I walked him all day long and a lot the next few days. He came around but it was work. Mine was a Belgian Stud I bought from outside Barnum. Beautiful horse and great saddle horse if you did not mind a rough ride.

Igor died yesterday. I found her with her head in the waterer, so she might have decided to end it all because of all her disabilities. I felt bad for Judy, I forgot to tell her until this morning, and she cried. She must be emotional today, it is not like her to cry over a chicken.

I cried when I opened the nest boxes to the Partridge Chanticler last night and both of the hens were doing the pancake on the nest egg! I have never seen 2 birds that like to go broody more than those two! It seems like they go broody once a month or more. They are the hens I want and need eggs from most and they spend all their time broody. I am going to give them frozen water bottles today. I am thinking of letting Ed out to run around for a few days, but with my luck on the PC he will find a bear or Lynx to wrestle if I let him free range! So I might not.

Ivie I hope your feeling better. The allergies are terrible, but the snow tonight should slow them down a bit.

I went to a tree place yesterday, it has a large area of great trees. I am thinking 3 pears, 2 apples, and some cherries if I can find a sweeter cherry. It seemed they were all sour, I want eating fruit not pies. I may have to switch out Cherries for Apricots.

I am going down to check the port holes shortly. I am amazed how well I am doing at not opening the door.

Is sneaks what you named the new calf?
