Surviving Minnesota!

@duluthralphie I wait with bated breathe for your judgement of my 'could be' EE!

The dark legs have me thinking EE. But the coloring and head, I could not see the comb well enough to see what kind it is looks like my PC/EE crosses. It does not look pure PC.

The legs are sure give away to some EE IMHO.

BTW before someone (Ed) thinks I am nuttier than he already thinks I am, I can tell that is not a cushion comb....

It has got to 85 the last 2 days . Predicted 83 today . I hide from the heat from 1-5 . Just too hot for me . Age is telling on me . Got my first egg from the EE Seabright pullet yesterday . Nice blue color . I think I will let her keep her eggs . Maybe she will set . Trips coming up so incubator is not a option . The Seabright rooster was not hen feathered and had rose / single comb genetics .So I have a pea / single comb cockerel and the hen is rose / single comb . A percentage should get pea / rose combo = cushion comb .

When you headed our way?

My Mille Fleur OEGB hatched out 7 chicks yesterday and this morning! It will be fun to watch them grow up!

And the duck eggs that I thought would hatch Sunday started last night with one making a external pip! Can't wait for ducklings!

For the German's on here..... I have renamed 2 of our Barred Rock Pullets...Little Shister 1 and Little Shister 2. They would not come in from the rain last evening. The rest were in the coop enjoying their treat of some bread. (I think they are the same 2 that gave me the run for my money last week.) Too bad they are a part of a 4H project about food consumption, otherwise they would be consumed.

Seeing as this forum is knowledable about gardening and winter hardiness. Why can't I get any blueberries from my blue berry bushes? 4 bushes total. I have 2 different kinds one is the suppose to be the pollinator. The other is a Northern XXX? They are now 5 years old they are in full bloom now and I will see hardly any berries. Last year I picked 6 berries total. I fertilize annually with a blueberry fertilizer from Jung. Previous owners left us with a bush that I picked massive amounts of berries off but of course they have since passed away.

I know what that is . On your blueberries I can not help . They are a mystery to me . I can not get them to thrive . Tried all the usual advise . Switching my efforts to Haskaps and Juneberries .

have your soil tested? they love acidic soil...wood ash is good for them I hear. I hope you figure it out because I have 3 bushes on order myself
