Good morning all. Lots of happenings in the past 10 days. My family and I just returned from a 10 day road trip out west. 3900 miles, 7 states, wow do we live in an amazing country. If you ever get the opportunity I strongly encourage everyone to visit glacier National Park. I also found trail Ridge Road going into estes park colorado to be amazing.

WB, Glad the trip went well...

I can never seem to learn. Once again I discovered the ECC* of my pocket is less than 4. Judy gets quite upset when I relearn this lesson for some reason... Who can every understand why a WWD gets upset though....

*Egg Carrying Capacity

Others things I learned today that can tick off Judy..

When candling the eggs in the incubator, NEVER put a bucket containing a broken rotten egg in front of the air conditioner. It can move that smell around the house in about 12 seconds....

I have over 70 Guinea eggs that look good for the first and around 20 chicken eggs for the 28th.

I took 46 guinea eggs from their hidden nest under the picnic table I gave 10 to Lizzie and 36 into the incubator.

EJB I think we are going north on the 4th if you want keets. I should have them, (fingers crossed).

Jerry, here are the pictures of my Creamer with the rose comb. I know it is not really a rose comb either. I have no idea what I would call it if not rose though.

You can see he has huge white ear lobes, The barring is not as bad as the picture shows with me holding him. He was not really into a photo session. He has a little more chestnut in the hackles than I like but he is not bad. If not for the comb I would consider keeping him as a 3rd or 4th back up.

Well, maybe not I have betters...

I may be wrong, but isn't that more of a pea comb?

Very well could be, Jerry says so, and I always bow to his knowledge. It is not the distinct 3 rows I see on my pea combs. This is the first time I held this bird since it was days old, I had to look at him from a distance, he is not overly friendly.
I would have no idea, but my brother knows genetics, and it looks like a bird of his that has a pea comb which resembles yours.

Hello all and happy Sunday! Was a great day and got a lot done until it started to rain. Sooooo....today was the first day I let the chicks free range. spent all morning securing chicken wire to fences, gates, etc....then installed a 5th hotwire rope close to the ground so the chicks would get the idea that they must remain in the pasture......well...there is one spot and they FOUND it, where they walked right under. their backs touched the rope and no shock????? So back to the main line...I turned the fence off and re-installed the wire that connects all 5 strands. now my fence tester gave me all red beeps up to 7000 volts.... we will see next time they are let out. I am also going to place some logs in the areas where the rope is not low enough to the ground to inhibit their trying to walk under.

Geesh...the work never ends.

It wasn't as hard as I thought getting them back into the run...I have them trained now when they hear the bag of dried meal worms shaking...they come running...FAST! We had a few stragglers that were easily rounded up!
