Surviving Minnesota!

I havent had a problem with frostbite. My first tear with tge new coop I did but with this old coop I havent and I housed a pair of geese and six ducks last winter. My Australorp mutt lost have of a spike last year and thats it. My Cochin rooster slept outside after his injuries and didnt get frost bite either. But he always had his head tucked in. I leave a big wi dow open all winter though so maybe that has something to do with it?

Ralphie I LOVE PVC feeders. Thats all I use with broodies and young birds. When those broodies start scratching for the babies that cant enpty the feeder out!

Last winter we had only one week of sub zero, holm. That definitely helps. 3 and 4 winters ago I woke to -20 every morning. It was my first winter with birds 4 years ago and it was a winter from hades. I will say that these older coops are tried and true though. They seem to have the ventilation kinks worked out.

I have checked the book, and a couple others, I still think it is a Bolete. But it might not be either.

It might be a Leccinum subglabripes which has no common name.

Is the flesh yellow, and not bruise. Did the stem bruise to faint blue or reddish?

My guess is don't eat it. Test it out on someone you wouldn't miss....

Maybe I should put it on the neighbors porch all gift wrapped?

I didn't look at it after getting the pic so don't know about bruising. Didn't think of that or slicing it.

It's interesting all the weird things that are popping up all over. About 3 years ago I found things that looked like ... sea creatures? I have a picture, maybe I'll find it and post just because it was creepy.
